how do move a tank without cause to much stress to tank inhabitants?

Get some brute garbage cans, drain the tank putting corals in containers. Move tank and fill back up with same water. You can do a water change at the same time if you like 20-40%. I did a 50% wc when I moved mine. The inhabitants loved it. Even the corals that were on the frag rack that I forgot to put in water...

I did the same thing, i even added more sand during the process to.

I forgot... just don't disturb the old sand (if its really old). Or get rid of it and get new sand. Mine was in over five years, I just didn't remove the rocks that were right on the sand bed.
