Last night one of the ATO feed hose came loose from the holder, fell to the floor and back siphoned the entire 5g reservoir onto the carpet. It wasn't until the second time my wife complained about wet carpet that I went to check and it was too late. I was doing a water change and refilling the reservoir so I thought she was just complaining about the splash.

The kicker was, this was the second time already and the first was when I let it the hose fall on purpose because I didn't the aqualifters could back siphon. I didn't learn a thing from that. Well this time I tied the hoses to the power cord of the return pump so they're not coming loose unless I want them to. I checked all other hoses and will make it a task to check for every week going forward.

Sorry to hear about ur mishap. Great advice indeed. I secure all hoses by either 2 zip ties or those plastic zip locks. High pressure pumpsnout of the water get stainless steel clamps.

Lol, no we haven't.

That's why I'm still a scared little boy with HOB filters and a lot of live rock in the tank.

No tank mishaps, lol, especially when working out of town!

One of the positives of the Apex....I have leak detection modules anywhere I have hoses.....which is just my reactors fortunately. Everything else is hard plumbed.

I do a check Every time I change the filter socks. If there is a weird sound or Too quiet- generally a time to do an overall check after all our systems are subject to moisture, vibration and various water pressures and flows
