Remember when we had under gravel filters?
They had two tubes with air stones in them to draw water down thru the crush gravel and then up thru the air stone tubes.
Just remembering what reef keeping was like a long time ago.
Trying to keep leather corals, wow.
Buying a dead piece of coral and trying not to grow too much algae on it?
We've come along way.

PaulB still uses one.

Although I believe he runs it in reverse! Let's see if @Paul B can fill us in.

I had them on my freshwater tanks in the 60's. They were the best for raising babies....you didn't loss any to the filter.

Dolomite and underground filters was all we had. We used to take out any decorative coral and boil them to clean them off. Didn't know anything then about live rock and such.

Yep, still use one of those.

I wonder what ever happened to mine. Probably somewhere in the basement buried under years of accumulated stuff that I might use one day.

I still use my XL too, sans powder, to clean my 40. Heck, I can even remember when the jars were actually made of glass!

Metal corner tanks, once filled perfect.
If you ever moved you had to remove the glass and re-caulk it, or other wise brace yourself for a leak. :(

I remember going to the fish store and looking at the saltwater fish thinking wow nine dollars for that fish. That's why I always did freshwater then. Now we spend fifty or more on a fish and don't even think about it
