You have a ton of potential in that tank!

FUN project! Don't be afraid to remove the rock and start over with a rock design. You might actually have a bit too much rock. I propose to clean your glass, remove your rock in a bucket and gravel vac your sand. Then put your rock back but make to islands and provide some space in the middle. Add low level coral to the front of the tank. Add other coral elements in the rock islands. If you end up with to much rock you could take it to your LFS and swap for more coral.

You're on the right path!

Neptune!!

There is tons of potential as mentioned, but that’s a lot of rock.

I would ask what you want to keep coral and fish wise.

Then I may do what @Neptune 555 said. Get down to bottom and start a new foundation and build from there. Sketches and drawings always help also. With the rock out, you could do mock up first to avoid redoing it a bunch of times in the tank.

Send pix once done

I have always favored the multiple island look for a 55

Experiment and see what you like the most. I see a lot of potential in that tank.

Id also wipe down the outside glass with some warm water + vinegar, because it really distracts you from the actual insides of the tank.

This is what I came up with for now...What you guys think?

Looks like mangroves in the “before” pictures. If so keep the tops above the water surface. Should also spray fresh water on the tops every once in awhile to keep salt buildup off of them.

Looks much better.

+1 to making sure those rocks on top are stable. They actually don't need to be that high. 1/2 -2/3 the height of the tank is plenty tall.

55s are tough to scape, due to the 12" width.
