I'm getting ready to set up a dosing pump to dose Trton elements. I've got a fish room located behind the wall my tank is on and I'd like to locate the dosing setup there. Total run from the pump to the sump might be 6 feet or so.

I know that I'll need to prime the lines and suspect that there may be more work involved when I have to change containers of solution and re-prime. Other than that is there any other reason to be concerned about a run of this length?

You don't need to prime the pumps, peristaltic can usually push 20 feet of head, and draw up 10 feet. I have a diaphragm pump pulling 6 feet and probably pushing 30 feet of head. Peristaltic pumps don't siphon, but peristaltic pumps can, so just look at if your Dosing canisters are above your drain (sump) if you are using a diaphragm pump. I use the avast diaphragm pump for ato, and brs peristaltic for Dosing (which go about 6 feet, and pull from 3 feet). Peristaltic pumps can handle caustic material like kalk, diaphragm pumps can only handle clean water.
