When plumbing in a remote fuge, does it matter where in the sump the pump is? Does it have to be in the return section with the DT pump? I don't think it matters but I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something. Thanks!

Typically the return pump is in the last chamber as it forces the water to flow through the whole sump (if you put it in the middle, the last chamber will sit stagnant).

Is that what you were asking, or are you asking where the pump to run the return for the remote fuge should go? if so, anywhere should be fine, but I'd stick with the last chamber to play it safe.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I was talking about just the return for the remote fuge. My main pump for the DT is in the last chamber of the sump, but for convenience it would be nice to have the fuge pump close to the first sump chamber.

I have my pump that feeds my fuge as close to the DT overflows as possible to collect as much unfiltered DT water as possible. The return from the fuge is in the same section as the main return pump feed to prevent any of the return water being sent back to the fuge.

I do the same for my UV sterilizer.

Ok thanks!

I should be ready to connect the pump for a leak test sometime this weekend.
