Im filling my tank tomorrow, and i have a roller matt by red sea plumbed in with the fleece in it do i remove that for the cycle, and just leave the roller matt in?

Why would you remove it? I cycled my Gen 2 625 tank with the ReefMat and it went great.

The ReefMat will pull out detritus but not beneficial bacteria. I’d continue running it. You may want to leave the skimmer off for a couple of weeks though.

Oh really? I didn't know somebody mentioned to remove the fleece while cycling but wasn't sure

Opposite for me.

I left the fleece out on both of my tanks when cycling. Waited about 7-10 days before I installed the media rolls. Added fish day 14-20. No ill effects either

So either way seems to work

I think either is fine. I have always left the filter roll in without issue.

I would remove it, your tank is new, no detritus to remove or very little, remove too many nutrients and it will likely cause dinos which you really don’t want.
Uh. This thread is old the tank is 4 months old. And i have coralline algae growing, and my corals are encrusting hahahaha. Im not even joking

It’s not gonna hurt to leave it in, but I’d keep it off for the first couple months and let the tank do its thing without any interference.
