Remove ricordia from rock

I have some thriving orange ricordia, bought a blue one for some contrast, it was doing great but the orange has grown so much its now flopped over the blue and is covering it completely.

How do I get the blue on off the rock so I can move it? I fiddled with it a bit with my finger and its stuck down tight!

Place an ice cube on it and it will release and melting ice is safe in the tank

Who would have thought? Do I place it right on top? How long does it usually take to let go?

Also whats the best way to get it to attach to something after that?

Place it right on top and hold until it uses its muscles to release.
To reattach, I dont like loose rubberbands and no glue, A small shallow cup wirh rock or rock bubble - mushroom will find a piece and reattach

Held ice cube on it (ice floats ) and really seemed to tick him off, tried a second cube and hes spitting out white stuff, but stuck on tight as ever.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

interesting. Maybe thats why my mushroom population has been exploding on me. I run high PO4 and No3.

But I am in the same boat as you, I need to remove some mushrooms from my rockwork. I am considering just breaking the rockscape and fragging the rocks with the mushrooms on and selling them. Plus it will give me more room in the tank.

Did you all find anything that works? I have some green hairy mushrooms encroaching on other corals and I need to remove them. I tried aiming a powerhead directly at one for 24 hours. It shriveled up and was clearly irritated, but never let go. It’s back to full size now.

No luck for me, I was able to pry off the original plug but part of it was stuck to the rock itself. With a great deal of poking prodding and pulling I was able to remove it but it ripped in the process, not sure if its still alive.

Its been sitting in a colander on top of a bunch of new plugs in the DT. Several days and it still has colour but hasnt attached to anything yet.

What I have found works best is bone cutters. tick it off so it shrivels up just to the foot and use bone cutters to cut the rock just under the foot. Also has the advantage of leaving a sliver of rock attached which is easily glued elsewhere
