Removed false wall in my JBJ RL30 -bowing?-

Hi all,

I’m wondering if since I took out the rear filtration/false wall this will cause the tank to bow since it’s rimless? The glass seems pretty thick and I think it’s 8mm. The rear panels were siliconed VERY well to the back false wall so I’m assuming that it acted as some sort of a brace before being removed.

Either way I’m drilling it and running a sump but wanted to know if anyone has done this to theirs

No it should not bow. The false wall dont really offer structural support. Its just there for filtration purposes

Agree 100%. The material they are made out of wouldn't do much to provide any structural support.

The rear false walls and chambers were made completely of glass and took me a whole day to remove. It resulted in shattering the rear false wall to remove the other panels that made up the compartments. The build quality of this tank really is impressive

Wow. Most tank rear walls are made of plastic (both of mine are). The fact that it took a day to remove shows how well made the tank is.

@Bob Escher Did this I believe. He added a sump, but may have left the baffles in.

Thank you! I’m excited to get back into the hobby. I’ve had a few tanks but this will be my first one with an overflow setup and sump.

I’m happy with the results. Getting it clean wasn’t too bad. Removing the false wall and baffles was a nightmare. I was hoping I could get it off in one piece if I ever wanted to use it for a future AIO build but in order to remove it I had to basically shatter it and pull it off the silicone
