as the title states, I removed the lid on biocube and in keeping the water at the "max" level labeled on the side of the tank, I get a lot of noise from water splashing in the overflow.

Any tips on how to prevent this noise? I don't run the standard biocube carbon filter as I use my own in a mesh bag for now.

Could you put a cover over just your overflow?

Raise the water level in the back, and put a little filter floss on the top of chamber 2. That's how I've run mine for years, but with the lid on.

I keep mine wayyy above "max." Most biocube owners do. It cuts down on the noise.
