You make a good point and I love to eat fish. I just don't want to be the one who kills them. And in the case of the video, I'm sure it was catch and release.

That was quite impressive, much easier then setting a trap and waiting all day to catch the wrong fish.

Micro fish hooks and mysis work well.

He jumped off as soon as I lifted him from the water.

good job Man I'm cracking up !
That's because your "Cracker"

If the copperband wasn't there it would have been much easier. But I wouldn't remove a copperband that way as their mouth is much to delicate.

Webslinger, I wouldn't use a barbed hook no matter how small. But that one in the middle looks perfect. :D
The needle only took me a second to bend but the fish kept stealing my bait so I did it 4 times before I got him.

Doesn't that hurt the fishes mouth? I'm assuming the fish doesn't actually bite or swallow the hook; you just catch him before he bites the bullet?

Thought fish were cold blooded and don't feel pain ?

need to give this a try, I service a buddies tank and he just puts anything and everything he likes in it. (drives me insane)
300g tank full of coral and all sorts of fish, but he a large lunare wrasse in there that is like the terminator in that tank.

I removed a large wrasse from one of my overflows like this. I just wish I had a video or pictures of it.

I still have the hook that I made out of a straight pin. :-)

I have caught fish using hooks when all else failed. Just used a pair of needle nose to crimp the barb flush. The fish generally flip off before they hit the bucket. Imo much less stressful and less damage than chashing a fish around the tank and having it hit rock.

The only way I've gotten fish out of the tank, is to remove all the rock and most of the water. If the hook works, it sure is the easier way.

I have the same no 20 hooks as well because some fish are just to hard to remove otherwise. Hooks are my last resort but they work!

Awesome man!!! Yeah we fish around here and even pinch our barbs makes catch and release so much easier. Clever with the needle!

Hooks are my first resort to catching fish that need to be removed.

The fish is out in seconds and the fish and the rest of the tank are not put under a lot of unnecessary stress from chasing them with nets or draining the tank.

It's a good idea to have a discourger handy in case it does swallow the hook, but I've never had it happen.
I like size 26 barbless hooks, you can get pretty much anything out with a hook and bait.
