Removing algae from corals?

My LFS has some great corals, but they all suffer from tons of algae on them.

What is the best way to remove these when I bring home in my QT tank? Is it best to just cut around the coral and replug?

I would advise removing the coral from the plug if possible as its also a sign of poor upkeep of the LFS...
Another option is to leave them and brush the plug with hydrogen peroxide and then dip them.

I always try to pop corals off plugs for dipping regardless of presence of algae, but especially if algae is present. Generally, any algae issues I try to hit with H202 whenever possible ie with minimal collateral tissue damage.
