Any advice how to do it? Pretty sure its dead or nearly, but the foot is still firmly attached to the rock. Should I take the rock out? Then how do I remove it?

Thanks in advance.

I've never personal removed an anemone but I have heard and seen a few different ways. If your anemone is still attached to the rock it is not dead. When it dies it will let go of the rock and pretty much turn into a ball of toxins so be carful about it killing anything.

1. When I bough my rose BTA for my 29 gallon reef the fish store took the rock out of the water and cut a chunk of the rock that the anemone was attached to off with a pair of pruners.

(I have neither tried or seen the next to ways but I have heard of people doing it)

2. Hold an ice cube at the base of the anemone. Try to make it out of RODI water so when it melts it does not release tapwater in the tank

3. Pick up the rock that it is attached to and hold it upside down at the surface of the water. Not sure if this would work out but you could give it a try.

Hope this helps :)

The way I do it is to hold the rock upside down to let gravity help you removing the anemone. Take a razor blade and carefully start to separate the foot from the rock. As you are working the foot lose the weight of the anemone will encourage the anemone to start to let go.

That sounds just as good as any other plan I've heard. I think that you should give it a shot

I've also read about pointing a power head at it and making it move. Just be careful if I is dying about blowing around all the toxins.
