Removing blue clove polyps from Zoa frag.

Any suggestions? The blue clove polyps are all I've the zoa frag. I tried scraping them with a small exacta blade with not much luck. I was going to try Kalk paster but don't want to kill the zoas. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You can brush them off with a toothbrush. Just don't do it in the tank, they will spread all over. I had a tank infested with them and brushing them would get rid of the spot you brushed but make them pop up everywhere else.

Best thing would be to brush them off and QT the frag for a while to make sure they don't come back. You can make a dip with fluke tabs and dip the frag and it will kill the cloves but shouldn't kill the zoas. Fluke tabs are hard to come by though.

Never heard of fluke tabs. I'll give the brushing a shot

Try scraping them off and then applying a thin layer of reef safe super glue to the rock/frag plug where you scraped. Repeat as necessary until they are gone. As Ritter said though, don’t do it in your tank.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The toothbrush seemed to work pretty well. I got in with a small razor to scrape the ones growing on the stalks if you will of the zoa polyps. I think I saw one two last night that came back. I'll try to get them with the super glue this weekend. Thanks again for the tips.
