Removing Chromium after ICP

Had a lot of suspicious coral deaths in a frag system. Was traced back to bad frag plugs. Any advice for removing Chromium? Currently using polypads and water changes to dilute.

What is a poly pad? Is that a form of a polyfilter?

I’d try using a metal binder like a polyfilter, cuprisorb, or metasorb.

I have not come across anything that specifically mentions Chromium

Water changes are on going total system volume is ~450 gallons. I tore the system apart looking for any signs of rust or corrosion. I'm about 99% sure the source was tainted ceramic frag plugs.

I feel your pain. I had a magnet rust in my 400 g system. Tried the metal absorbers for a couple of weeks to no avail. The water changes worked very quickly to stabilize the remaining SPS. It will be worth the effort

That's good to hear that it should stabilize. I went ahead and replaced all the magnets and pumps while I looked for any source of the contamination. I even decided to replace the saltwater mixing pumps thinking they could have been the issue.

What kind of plugs were they?

They are a black top ceramic plug. Used them for years. I randomly came across a post about how the creator is pretty bad about shipping orders in a timely manner, and buried in the comments was a post about them leeching Chromium. I spoke to the poster (who is a sponsor here I think) who isolated the plugs and sent out an icp and confirmed it. I'm waiting on another icp to confirm my suspicions. I'd rather not put them on blast until I get confirmation myself.

Most metal binders are fairly general types. And I expect it binds some forms of chromium.
