I have several pieces of live rock covered in coral I want to transfer to a new tank upgrade. I’m taking everything from my current tank and moving it all over to the new tank

Paly’s, Grandis Paly’s, mushrooms and gsp specifically are ones on several pieces of live rock I want to remove so they don’t spread in the new tank

Any tips on removing these without killing the rock? Thanks a lot!

That sounds like a pretty messy proposition, with potential issues with the palys and grandis if you were to damage them a lot while removing them, putting toxins out. But if you have to, I would see if you can get bone cutters in there and clip off the underlying rock to get them off, rather than trying to physically scrape them off. Or, frag the corals you want to keep off the rock and add those to the tank on new rock, and chuck the remaining rock with the offending corals. Looks like a nice mature encrusted rock - don't blame you for wanting to keep it!

Thanks I’m thinking of leaning towards that way - might even try just chiseling the rock and give away the corals I don’t want to add and if the rock gets too damaged just adding it in the sump
