Removing cyanobacteria from green star polyp

When using the turkey baster if I go to hard tos ruining my gsp, I have a 4 inch frag I don't wanna lose. I know ots considered a weed but my fiance loves it, so I want to save it. Any tips on how to get the cyanobacteria off the gsp without hurting the gsp

Just blow water at it with the turkey baster. The coral may close up but it won't damage it any.

Agreed, blow it off. I'll typically lightly blow the water from the turkey baster in order to close up the polyps and then you can get a little more physical to get the cyano off. You could even try a makeup brush.

If blowing water over the coral is causing pieces of it to break off I'd suspect your coral probably isn't doing very well

I have been using a small tooth brush to remove the red gunk from small delicate spots... works pretty well for me but ymmv.
