Removing pest hairy cactus pavona

They are very aggressive and grow fast. I added it last year without doing research on it, but it’s quickly growing and will soon kill the acros it touches.

I removed them as best as I could, but the base is still attached to the rocks. I put aiptasia X on it and it’s grabbing onto it.

How can I effectively eradicate this coral from my main rock work?

Before anyone suggests glue, I covered the base of the pavona a few months ago, and it completely overgrew the glue. It didn’t work.

Pics? Only way in tank is to cover in kalk paste or glue. Another option is to remove said rock.
I know how fasts it spreads.
If you dont get it all it will come back.

As said above, removal is prolly the best bet. I've seen it survive kalk paste, almost as bad as Aiptasia (just better looking).

Yea its a very hardy coral, lol, its also a painful weed. Also be careful scraping it as it will float around the tank killing where it lands. Had this issue in my 20 on the back wall. Its impossible to contain, imo.

I had similar issue a few years ago and broke it section by section with a needle nose pliers and covered the rest with reef putty
I use Holdfast

The parts circled in red is the pavona.

These 2 pictures look white because the pavona is completely covered (and is holding the aiptasia X paste)

And this one I had the break a large piece (with many tiny pieces of pavona flying everywhere, oh dear)
I covered what I can with aiptasia X, but it wasnt effective on that piece.

I did a great job! I still have a more more to cover, but I ran out of epoxy. I think this will work great! I feel much better now that I’m being active in my tank’s fate.

I’m lucky I caught the issue before it grew out of control. I didn’t realize that they were so aggressive until I read @90's reefer post the other day in the ”corals you won’t add again” thread.

Until it becomes a nuisance coral. Usually does best on its own rock.
