Removing Phosphates

Phosgaurd and looking into nopox as our population is getting bigger.

It will be interesting to see how many different responses you get :)

Your question is a primary challenge of all reef-keepers, IMO. I run macro-algae, chaeto, in my refugium. Some others carbon-dose (vinegar or vodka) and remove it with their skimmer (well, remove the bacteria that consumed the phosphate with skimmer).

It seems to be mostly about balance. If you put in a lot of phosphate (fish food and/or coral food), then you must be able to remove a lot of phosphate (lanthanum chloride, phosguard, GFO, macro-algae, algae turf scrubber(ATS), SPS corals consume it). If you over-feed to what your tank can naturally consume, then phosphate levels go up (input > output). If you remove more than you put in, then it goes down (input < output).
