I'm in process of doing a sand replacement in my 125. Also have removed all but bottom layer/foundation of rock to clean and scrub. Rock is back in, and prob. 2/3 sand out. Couple heavy areas to go. Maybe 2 more water changes. Question is the sump. Should I remove sand. I removed the rock to clean or replace with rocks with no algae.

Main reason for all this is to remove fine sand and get my numbers down. Refugium is a mess. Should sand come out and be replaced with medium grain, or do I even need sand in there for pods, as I plan to rebuild my population. REmoval here will be easier and faster! Either a pitcher or shop vac will take care of it fast.

I never ran sand for pods I always used live / base rock rubble for pods so if that's the only reason you need it for there are other options
That's what I was thinking/hoping, because 2 years later, it is not nice. No wonder my no3 is sky high... Thank you.
