Removing Sand

I have a 90 gallon tank, 120 gal total system. Tank has been up and running for about a year. Should I be aware of any issues I may encounter removing my sand bed? Any tips for success from anyone who’s already done this?

How thick is your sand bed? I think that it is a major determining factor in determining whether it will disturb the system.

Age might be another contributing factor

Removing, sand bed is about as thick as the black plastic rim around the tank. Tank has been up and running for almost a year.

Make sure you have enough rock work to carry the bio load.

Any tips for success from anyone who’s already done this?

I did it on a lot younger and smaller tank. Took out all rock work and livestock before removing the entire sand bed to not cause issues. It worked, but since you have 4x the size I had, I would go slow and do what @Rmckoy recommended.
