I bought a Fluval Evo 13.5 from somebody who had previously attached a shelf to the back wall. I initially thought it would be a neat scape design but after about a year the appeal has worn off. More than anything it is a pain to work around during maintenance. The shelf is made with an L-shaped piece of acrylic siliconed to the back wall about 4x5 inches. I recently attempted to remove it by separating what I could with a razor blade. However, that proved to be ineffective go figure.

If you have any ideas please share them. It isn't the end of the world if I need to keep the shelf. I'd rather work with it than mess up the back wall.

Maybe some sort of wire to slice through?

Here is a thread that you may find helpful:

In addition hot water, vinegar can also softer the silicone before starting with the guitar strings, multiple strands of fishing line, etc.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Thanks for the help! I actually have some extra guitar strings laying around so I'll give it a shot!
