I got a cheap lobo some weeks ago, that had exposed skelton on one side, and basically not looking to good. After some time with a few feedings, it looks much better.
However, the one side with skeleton showing has been filled with small rocks and I'm wondering if I should try and remove them?
The coral doesn't seem to want to 'grow' on top of this:

Should I leave it or try to remove it with a toothpick or similar?

Just blow them off or gently brush them away.

Took it out for a few, and cleaned it the best I could:

This little thing came off.

Isn't this a serpent starfish of some sort, and something I should put back?
