For you young'uns, Silence of the Lambs reference.
I'm not saying the urchin killed the skunk cleaner shrimp so that it could wear its skin, but I am sure it set into motion all of the events leading to its demise. Just look at that guilty face!
In reality, this is a sad/coping post, and I was very shocked/saddened to find the skunk cleaner laying sideways in the sand this morning :-( I liked that shrimp a lot. All evidence lean towards a bad molt, given the urchin is carrying a brand new molt. Only addition to the tank has been a small emerald crab that was previously resident in my 10g system and wasn't overtly aggressive, just a food-stealer, and I know it was well fed the night before. Magnesium runs high in my tanks (>1600), so perhaps that had an effect... I am planning to remedy the Mg situation once new salt arrives (Fritz blue box, replacing a weird batch of HW).
Adeu preciosa gambeta!
