Replace filter socks with Sera Crystal Clear filter media

Hi fellow reefers,

Have you replaced filter socks with Sera Crystal Clear filter media?

Searched here and the web, but can't really find any reviews.

The vendor states the product is 80% reusable after washing it out. I'm wondering how often do you need to wash it. It can get expensive pretty fast if you have to wash it every few days.

Following, interested too. From their demo video it sounds like you can just rinse the media in water.

I’ve been cutting blue bonded filter pads in small cubes and putting in a cup, seems to work pretty well though have to discard every 2-3 days (still prefer over filter socks).

I sent them a message in regards to how often it needs to be replaced/cleaned. Their response: "The product must be cleaned when the flow rate decreases significantly."

LFS has started using these in n place of filter socks. I personally dont find rinsing socks out and leaving them to dry for a few days but I swap them out 2 times a week so they don't get super nasty.

I looked at it months ago. Couldn’t find any reviews on it so I chickened out. May be because filter floss is so much cheaper, but it does look like it filters out more

It’s just the blue/white pad from my LFS.
