So i'm doing a 23gallon tank, got a hob skimmer that is too big (up to 300l), so i have to take out the hob filter i had. Since i have tons of live rock, can i go along without having the hob filter?

What do you plan on keeping? Will there be a high bio load that you need a skimmer on the tank? Best of luck :)

My idea was to keep just the skimmer, i have softies, fishes and inverts. I dont have a sump, hence the hob skimmer.

Regarding the Seachem Tidal 75, wouldnt make sense as i want to get rid of my classic hob filter

The tidal series I think was suggested
because they have a surface "skimming" ability but not the same as a protien skimmer. They do however have the ability to hold pretty much whatever media you want which can be beneficial as well. You can absolutely run a tank with just a skimmer. Maybe some of those folks can chime in more here. Best of luck again :)
