Replacement power supply

I somehow managed to misplace my power supply for my Reef Octopus Regal 150. Coralvue is out of stock on supplies plus I’m not dropping $60 on one directly from them.
I’ve found two that look like they’ll work. They have the same output as the original but the input amps are different. I’m not sure how how important that is or if it ok to have higher or lower amps on the input?

These are the specs of the original:
Input: 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz 2.0A
Output: 24V ⎓ 2.5A

These are the two options I’ve found:
2.5A input

1.5A input


I just can’t seem to find one with a 2.0A input

output = power that "gets through"

The only thing that matters is output voltage and current (Amps).
Higher output current is okay, just make sure it is 2.5A minimum.

Your original PSU is 24v DC. The second one you listed from Amazon is 24 V AC which is no good, and will not work.

The first one is okay.

Yep, it's been stated.....match output voltage and amps equal to or greater will work. One more thing, you need to match the plug, both in it's size and location of positive/negative connections. Otherwise you'll have to splice the old plug to the new power supply. The second one you linked is 5.5mm x 2.5mm plug with the center positive. Check your old power supply....they typically have a picture showing positive/negative locations.

also make sure its proper current!

AC = Alternating current

DC = Direct current
