Replacing a clownfish

I went away for vacation this past week and one of my ~2 year old clownfish is completely missing. My in laws were watching the house and one morning it just wasn't there anymore. Our theory is it jumped out and one of our dogs probably ate it . I had two clownfish of the same age and nearly the same size, they were paired up but never of mating age or anything. I want to get another to introduce to the remaining one. Unfortunately they were nearly identical so I can't tell if the male or female is the one missing. Not sure if that changes anything.

Is replacing it something I can do soon, or do I need to wait for the other one to be "solo" again?

Best thing to do is get a new clown significantly smaller than the current one. Whether male or female, the current one will eventually default to female (if it isn’t already).
A small clown won’t have become female yet, so it should (hopefully) submit to the larger one.
