Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with replacing their skimmer pump with a jebao dcr needlewheel pump.

I'm looking to do it, thinking the dcr3000 or 4000. I see that ATB went with jebao as the motor with the air star but I'm not willing to pay 300 for one.

Anyone have any experience with doing this?

Yes : ) I just replaces a sicce shark 3.0 with a jebao dct4000 nw pump. It was in an aquamax skimmer. The difference is night and day. Get the DCT4000 as you can always throttle it down if needed. Also you can get that pump on ebay with a venturi and pw for $100 shipped to your door. The pump pulls 40-45scfh out of the box but I made another venturi and it will pull up to 60-65scfh if you really want to push it. I have it pulling 45scfh at 50% power right now.

Bought the dcr4000 today off eBay. Bought the one that came with the pinwheel and Venturi. I'm hoping it will work, going on an SWC mini S cone. Not too much info on this being done, but I figured if ATB can trust to make them a pump I can give it a try too.

On that skimmer use the stock Venturi but cut it down drastically, if you do you'll go from 30scfh to 45scfh which is a huge variance. Swc mini cone should be able to handle the pump pretty well, you'll just have to experiment. A big upgrade vs that sicce. Not only atb, but octo, orphec, skimz, rlss.....etc

Simplicity, hiseas, basically anyone that uses a dc skimmer pump uses jebao's. There are a couple dc pumps that are not jebao's but not many! I would even think the deltecs are jebao.

I almost bought a red dragon speedy 3 dc. Thought it would be better to try this first

Not sure about the rd but you could probably buy 12 or so of these for the same price as 1. Just an fyi, when you plug in the pump it will be on a 3 min delay, so you have to press the button to start it up.

Oh ok, glad you told me that lol
I have always wanted to have a bubbleking but their skimmer specs are pretty bland. I wanted to buy a red dragon and put it on one of those pretty deltecs.

I am pretty excited to play with this pump.

It's a cool pump.

Nothing would really surprise me with bk, I mean they use to sell red dragon replacement pumps years ago for a couple grand and all the pumps were was Hagen Laguna pond pumps that cost $150 bux, but they did put titanium shaft and screws on them so that must have cost 2k or so :)

Just yell if you need help but the only thing you really need to do is cut down the venturi and get the output to work in that skimmer. If you can dreamer the input hole on that skimmer and use the pump output holder to tighten down the pump you'll be golden. That's what I would do.

I will definitely give it a shot. Might have to message you if that's ok with a question of two when it comes in.

Thanks for the help as always Luke

This thing is awesome! I couldn't be happier with the results. It's skimming more in 1 day than the sicce did in 5. And it's silent
