My friend has a Current Orbital light fixture that has 6-1 watt LED moon lights in it. He wants to change them out with 6- 3 watt LEDs. My question is... Will the already existing driver operate the 3 Watt LEDs, and where can i find 3 Watt LED bulbs.

Im pretty sure this is a no 3w leds run at a much higher current than 1w leds. Plus they need alot larger heat sinks to ensure long life. It could be done but you would have to retro fit it with new heat sinks, driver, and possibly a fan of some sort. Check out reefledlights.com

This light does not have heat sinks on it. It has a LED light bulb like a flash light ( these are the moon lights). I heard they make them in 3 watt as well. The 1 watt he has on it now are practically worthless.

I replaced all my white leds with 3w blues on my 72" fixture. I took an led to radio shack and matched it up to what the 1 w looked like. Took a sodering iron and heated up the soder and slide out the white leds and replaced and sodered new ones. Worked like a charm. Ran them for 2 years till I bought Reefkeeper mlc.
