Replacing old rocks with new

Hi all,

I have some paly's that overtook a good portion of my rocks in my tank (about 30%). I want to get rid of these and replace the rocks with no paly's on them.

How should I go about this since it's a good chunk of rock?

LR? Dry rock? A small bit at a time? all at once?

I would go lr and try to get an exchange at lfs. Lr for coral. At the very least get some of the rock.

As for all at once or a little at a time, it depends on size of tank and how much lr is being replaced.

Take the rock out. Cut off as many of the palys as you can with bone cutters. Freeze it solid. Let is soak in a bucket of tankwater with a heater and powerhead for a few weeks until the dead tissue is all gone - do a few water changes and "swish" the rock to get the gunk off. Replace it in the tank.

Remember your gloves and eye protection.
