Replacing Reef Octopus AC pump with DC

So I bought a Reef Octopus Super Reef 2000. The pump is the loudest item in my Red Sea Reefer 525xl. I have a Cor return pump that’s dead silent and got the tank flow tuned to silent and my MP40 makes no sound.

Since I can’t exchange the skimmer, can I upgrade it to the varios style pump in the regal/Elite series? Anyone done that?

One word of caution... the DC pumps do not run as steady as the AC pumps.

I have a HUGE reef octopus regal skimmer.. i love it, but i am constantly adjusting it.

My old RO was set and forget it.

I have a Reef Octopus 5000int and after I upgraded my return pump and closed loop pump, the loudest thing on my system was the old RO ac pump.
I got in touch with Coral Vue and they recommended upgrading to the VarioS-6S pump.
Now the only thing I hear is the water exiting out of the skimmer body.
Very quiet.
Get in touch with Coral Vue and ask them which dc pump they would recommend.

Thank you! I’ve ordered the varios pump and adapter as per their recommendation. I’m just gonna think of the existing pump as backup should the varios fail I have something to run my skimmer until I get replacement or repair the pump would have loved to have a regal for less money but oh well. Live and learn.

PS. The Neptune Cor 15 is so silent It’s unbelievable and I’m running it at 100%
Another I wish I had ordered a cor20 lol but it’s a reefer 525, so more than enough flow as dedicated return.

I would have recommended you to get in touch with customer support at coral vue as well, Glad you did and nice to see you have ordered the pump needed to get you to a quiet place
