Replacing rock in an existing tank

I had some new left over Caribsea Life Rock from a new reef tank i recently set up. I am planning on giving it to a friend. He intends to use it to make a new reef in his 8 gallon Nano reef tank. His tank has been going for a couple years now. Is it safe for him just to remove the old reef and directly replace it with the new one? It is a small tank, and has 2 clowns living in it. We don't want to cause any fatalities... any input would be appreciated.

Replacing the current rock with dry rock could definitely have an effect on the cycle of the little nano tank, I would try to cure it in an established aquarium and turn it into live rock first. That being said, the LifeRock is supposed to have stuff on it that helps cycle the aquarium quicker, right? It may only need to stay in a bigger tank for a couple of weeks or so until it can be switched with the rock in the nano.

Yup play is safe and cure the rock, especially in an older smaller tank. Going to stir up a lot of old stuff when replacing the rock.
