Over the years the weight of my L2 screen has caused it to tear at the pin. It’s easy enough to go to the craft store and get some more screen to rough up. But how do I do the cement part? I know it’s probably not required but seems it would speed things up.

Go to step 3 here:

It's optional though, if you've already ran a scrubber on your tank, you can probably skip it. Screens tend to mature faster on a tank that has been "conditioned" to run a scrubber.

Also you can just rough up a screen and use tiny zip-ties to attach strips of your old screen to it.
