Replacing sump over the holidays, want to avoid a headache..

So as the title states, I purchased a new sump for my system. I currently run a custom Synergy Reef sump that is 36"x26"x20" that flows left to right : crash box into media/filter pad box into skimmer section into return, refugium on the far right feeding into return. The fuge has been fed by a manifold on the return and honestly it has not been the most efficient set up. I've had a few issues with the media box overflowing due to filter pads not allowing enough flow, and the placement of the refugium should have been in line with the flow not a separate feed. It was my design and built to my specs, so no ill towards Synergy as the build quality was top notch.
That being said, I have gone back to Synergy for a new sump, their Triton 44. I ordered it during the Thanksgiving week and have been so excited to do the swap. I received an email yesterday that it would be shipping tuesday. Yay!
When I woke up today, I started my normal morning routine of clean the skimmer and feed the tank. As I opened my stand the gravity of the job that I have ahead in doing the switch hit me. All of the plumbing, rewiring, swapping to the 2016 Apex, ect. I am hoping to make my filtration more efficient with this change and also have to chance to add a few more safety and informative elements (FMK and Leak Detectors) to my system. Though I am slightly worried about the amount of time the switch will take and if any harm will come to my corals and fish while the sump is off line.
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you keep water movement in the display tank and maybe reroute your heater to the display tank to keep it warm everything should be fine. I had a similar issue almost two years ago, except the problem I had was I cracked my sump and had to wait two days for a new one to come in. So I drained the sump, and moved my heater to the display tank. Then the new sump came in, and did the swap out (probably took me 3 to 4 hours) and everything was back up and running. Trust me you'll feel a sense of joy and pride once you get everything switched over

in my experience i had to do an emergency sump change on one that i cracked being an idiot early on a saturday morning. fortunately my lfs had a very similar one i was able to get and even given that circumstance completely agree that changing over a sump is going to be far more pleasurable than painful. not to mention it allows you to tinker with something new and fun especially when its one of the quality yours will be.
its been about a year and a half later now and while i'm not using the triton method i am looking to switch over to a triton style sump. to me the bigger cause for concern is the biological change and how the life in my tank will respond to the significant increase in use of algae to filter the water when previously it's been gfo and carbon sources.

Plan out all the plumbing changes & parts required very carefully on paper - making sure you have everything you need. Avoid extra trips to the store. But yeah, with circulation and heat in the DT you should be able to run long enough to finish the job.

What was your issue having the refugium to the far right run off the manifold? I'm considering your identical config, minus the media that would cut water flow.

Wow, this is an old post.
The issue I had was with my older sump which was custom made. There were some things that were not right with the build and the way the water moved through the chambers. Some of the choices were mine and others the maker. The sump was actually very loud to run due to some of these issues.
I don’t feel enough water was running through the refugium at the end of the manifold. Also running your return and a manifold feeding multiple items off of a single pump, to me know is not that great. It kills a lot of flow.
