Replacing Trident reagents

In the tasks in fusion the options are "reagent A replacement" since that one gets changed more frequently, or "Reagent replacement" which guides you through replacing all 3.
Oh....well that doesn't make any sense to not include the options to change B or C independently....sound like a way for Neptune to make some extra money :-(

Perhaps others experience things differently, but on my trident B and C get consistently used at the same rate. I’ve kept leftover reagent from all 4 swaps ( I’m on my fifth set) and the total leftover B and C is still less than a third of a bottle. A is a different story. More than a full bottle of leftover.

Doesn't that use change though depending on your schedule? What if you wanted to only check Mg. once a day but Ca 4 times a day?......or isn't that type of customization possible? I have just started using it......ignore my questions if they make no sense lol. You "should" be able to change each bottle as needed, and choose how often each test is run....I am not sure why those capabilities would not be included :-(

As far as I know, there is no way to decouple the MG and CA testing. Perhaps there is a good reason for this, dunno. I do seem to recall somebody saying that the titration process for CA/MG was linked, but I cannot recall who or when; so I may remember incorrectly. I've stayed with the base 4 tests per day, which means ALK four times and MG/CA twice.

From what I've read, the way the trident is calculating Magnesium and Calcium is using a total hardness test and calcium hardness test. Magnesium hardness = Total hardness - Calcium hardness.
I think this is why the reagents are used in combination and consumed at the same rate. Both reagents are required to determine the values. This is also why some people, including myself see the graph curves for magnesium and calcium swinging in opposite directions, especially when the reagents are nearly empty.

So what happens if you have a dosing schedule that is dependent on the trident and the trident runs out of reagents?

You get an error and trident doesn't test. But I find that my reagents are pretty much empty when apex says they are I don't end up with a lot of extra.

Yes I gathered that it stops testing but does it stop dosing or does it continue using the last values?
I have been told the Trident can control the dosing pump, so I am just wondering what it does in a case of reagents running out.

Yes you setup a base line of say 15ml then you allow the Apex a % of what it can deviate from. Ifi haven't noticed anything other than normal operation when reagent is out

I think it makes sense to update your baseline every month or so based on what your average daily consumption is over that month. Especially if you're adding corals. That's my plan anyway.
