Im going to be replumbing my sump with a external pump this weekend how do you all yours done pic would be nice

From your bulkhead on the sump you first want to have a ball valve before the pump preferably with unions on it. This will allow you to isolate the sump if you ever need to remove the pump. Next attach the pump. Directly after the pump place a Tru union check valve and directly after that another ball valve. Once again. This will allow you to isolate the tank if you ever need to work on the pump or check valve. Are you redoing all your plumbing? Are you going to make a manifold?

Here is a pic of my return pump setup

Hre are both mine. 2 different manifold styles. I strongly advise not to use a check valve as they will fail over time from precipitate buildup.

I have to disagree with you on the check valve. I strongly believe in having one in the system. I do agree that over time the build up can cause them to fail and that is why I suggest a Tru union check valve. This allows the center portion to be removed and serviced cleaned. When it finally wears out it can simply be replaced by just sliding in a new center portion. This maintenance can sadly be done while doing water changes. Again just my opinion

I'd show u mine but its hurried on my photo bucket. Look at the first page of my build thread. And yes I do have a check valve in mine. While my sump can handle the flow back. Having to refill 12 foot of 2" pipe is alot of air.

Also of you can wash the new PVC parts in vinegar solution.

Good job. My only critique would be that in the last pic it looks like you have the inlet to the pump reduced to a 1" pipe. Looks like the pump should have a 2" inlet. You should never restrict the pipe on the inlet. The pump is designed to have a more water to pull from and now it doesn't. It will shorten the life of the pump and cause it to work harder than intended

that is part of the more work had one pump that was going on it and after about 30 min it died so that is why it is on 1in pipe will fix it soon
