I tried searching the forums, but I couldn't find a good answer to this:

Is it possible to repurpose the stock lighting from a 32g biocube for a smaller tank? I'm looking hard at getting Steve's LEDs for my cube, but then I feel like I would be sitting on a quite valuable light fixture that would probably grow a 20g petco aquarium quite well. Has anyone tried this? I need to setup a QT tank because I've had really bad luck in my first couple of months stocking my cube, so I thought this light might work.

Also, for anyone who has Steve's LEDs... does the scheduler on the top just become a clock after the upgrade?

Thanks!

You could remove the ballasts and bulbs and try and retrofit them into something else. Sure.

I have no idea about Steves LEDs. Free bump.

Bump, I would like to know this as well. I might be getting Steve’s LED soon.

I have been using Steve's LED's for 3 years in my 32G Biocube.
You have to be very careful with the intensity of these lights.

I just bought a Apogee PAR meter and the top of my rockwork measured in the 350 range with the blue channels set at 40% intensity and the white channels at 1%.

The sandbed measured around 90 in the middle of the tank.

Dana is helping me with determining the correction factor because the Apogee MQ-120 will under report in the blue spectrum with LED's.
