I'd like to take my current biocube 32 (mostly SPS and a few softies) and turn it into a frag tank or quarantine tank for my two 75s. The newest 75 will be a mixed reef tank.

Currently, in the BioCube, I have among other things... 2 clownfish, 2 peppermint shrimp, cleaner shrimp, a Coral Beauty (which I'll move to my existing 75 LPS tank, and if I regret it, he'll go in the new 75).

My question is how long will it take for the new 75 gallon to be SPS appropriate, so I can move over a majority of my SPS into the larger tank? I'm talking from the time the tank is cycled, until when?

Just trying to plan ahead. I'm not great with the timing of things. I usually just wait until I'm not seeing prevalence of problems within the tank.

Coral QT for the BioCube.

In the video of Jason Fox's setup he light heartedly states his BioCube is the most important part of his system -- because it's his coral QT, and that allowing a pest into his system would destroy his livelihood. He puts corals in there for like 3 months he said? He wants to make 100% sure it's pest free. And I think he has a pair of them actually.

As for a tank being "SPS ready" -- I think that's all hogwash. I kept SPS since the day after the cycle ended in all my tanks. Never had a problem. I also advocate higher nutrients for new tanks too. The old stable tanks can be ULNS as they're typically huge and have a lot of life in them. New tanks running chaeto, ULNS, giant water changes... It's too sterile. Corals like to eat.

What kind of light do you have on your Biocube?

I presume this is because higher nutrients is actually more balanced in the long run. I've noticed that there's an underlier here. Too much of something = problems, too little of that same something = even worse. This leads to a consumerist approach: "What can I buy to remediate this?"

So thanks for that info...I'll be moving over everything once cycled.
