Hello My friend wants to give me a bubble tip today. he says it's slowly shrinking & wants to get out of the hobby anyway. His tank looks like a kenya tree forest. I have not seen this critter. He says it's on a small rock. So there will be no hassles with the foot. Iv'e never had an anemone but want one. I have an established 75 gl (2 years) with good lighting (T5's ) . So to my questions.
How about dipping?
Acclimation ?
Anything else ? LOL
So I my plan is to see where it's at in his tank & get an idea of flow. I will get a par reading & get a water sample. I don't want to turn down a freeby here. So I'm off to do a crash course/research on my questions & could use some insight where ever I can get it. he wants it gone this afternoon !
Thanks !

Youll definitely want to do a drip acclimation to get it switched over to your tank. As far as dips on anemones im not sure, ive never dipped one. #reefsquad anyone with some more info on transferring anemones?

If you don't have a QT system for him, I would be concerned about what else would come in with him. I'm not aware of any dip process that is safe to use with an anemone.

Sure enough it was a green bubble coral . Still a pretty coral & a freebie as well. It's pretty beat up but we shall see. Thanks for the earlier advice. He does have a long tentacle anemone. Maybe that's next? LOL

Help. I just got the bubble to and within an hour he goes from this to this. Water is good. Lighting questionable. Buying new fixture soon

So I asked the local fish aquarium what to do. They said remove about 3 gallons of water and add fresh water. So I did. Sure enough.... He bubbled back up. Let's see how long for.

Do you happen to have a refractometer? Great way to keep track of salt levels

You don’t measure your salt level !?!?
I actually do measure the salinity at the local fish store once a month. But I'm still fairly new to the salt water world. Obtaining new testing kits now. I usually measure the nitrate and ammonia at home.

Anemones shouldn’t be in a tank that’s younger than 6 months
