Hello all, got a weird one for ya.

Yesterday I acted on a Facebook marketplace find— someone selling off their whole tank. I asked about the corals and here we are. I received some high-potential corals for a very good price if all works out. I got what I consider to be a lard colony of frogspawn, duncan, a kenya tree, a 90% dead favia, and some gsp.
(yawn) Anyway, I am unsure of the actual conditions of the water in the tank, all I could see was that the light was likely super inadequate. It was just what looked to be a white LED bar. Probably fine honestly. Owner said these were all grown from one or two heads which is a good sign. I can confirm this because we use the same LFS that has never sold anything this large before. I generally know what to look for in corals as far as health but I know there’s a combined thousand years of experience here on R2R so here ya go!

First one is the one I care about the most, the frogspawn:

As you can see it’s very closed up which is understandable. It received 10 minutes of a toothbrush (only on the skeleton) before I put it in my tank. Yesterday it was fully closed but as you can see, its tentacles are starting to emerge. I noticed one dead head which I think is reasonable. I really how this guy pulls through.

You can also see the kenya tree. I had to frag that on-site because it was attached to a massive chunk of rock. I sliced it clean with a razor blade and glued it to a plug. I think it’s in shock but could it pull through

Next is this duncan. It looks to be in pretty good shape, opening right up. Not too worried about it.

Then, heres a hammer, closed but the tentacles seem puffy and the base looks good to me— i think?

Finally the Favia, I don’t know if there’s any saving this guy.

To anyone who responds, thank you very much! I am really trying my best at this reef and I don’t want it to fail!

It sounds like you’re off to a good start. I’d just give them all some time. They’re probably stressed from their former tank and the move to your tank. I’d just keep an eye on them, making sure they have proper lighting, flow, and parameters. Good luck!

Absolutely! I have adjusted my flow already because the size of this frogspawn has put itself into “uncharted flow territory” in my tank. I have a green FS that likes the subtle flow so I am going to aim for that. I don’t expect the favia to return but who knows? I also don’t care if the GSP makes it or not. I paid about $10 a “frag” for all of this in the photo ($50) so in reality the risk is worth the reward. Had to move my current frogspawn because I saw the new big one is extending even more! Super excited and if everyone dies, it was worth the experience as well.
