It's been awhile since I had a planted tank and I am considering setting up a large planted system. I already have a mixed reef tank, and am just looking to do something a bit different.

Can any of you help me out with what is the least expensive way to go forward and still get good results especially in terms of lighting.

The new tank would be about 7x2x2 210g. Looking to keep mostly macro's but also some lps, gorgonia (non photo synthetic is fine), and a few fish and shrimp. Maybe a few low light nems if I can find some nice ones.

Following. I’m about to set up a 75 gallon display refugium to tie into my SPS display. I’ll be starting off with metal halides to light it because I already have them.

I am excited to see the results. I have always wanted to do one. I've grown macroalgae semi-commercially and then for my refugium as well as in a mantis shrimp tank I had.

Sounds awesome! I'm not sure how it would work for LPS or nems but, in December I got a 4ft, 42w Hygger LED light for my 90g (2ft tall) macro tank. So far my macros have loved it and grown very well! It was about $70 and has a built in timer and adjustable brightness.
