I have broken my tank down to redo my aquascape. While i have it dry I’d like to redo the front 2 corner seals on the tank. There are no leaks, they just look bad (chunks missing from scraper and algae build up behind the silicon). My question is can I just reseal those 2 corners or will I need to do the entire aquarium? I don’t really need to reseal anywhere else, but I don’t want leaks where the old silicon and new silicon join. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? The tank is a 120 gallon deep.

Resealing a tank is no joke. You've gotta get every last bit of the old silicone off because the new silicone won't stick to the old stuff. If you're looking to just make aesthetic improvements, that's a different story.,

I am not wanting to reseal between the glass panes. Just looking to remove the old silicon in the front corners of the tank and add new silicon. I’m not touching the silicon between the glass panes.

I'd avoid scraping the stuff off that's on the inside. You can apply a new layer over it to improve the appearance.

Thanks Engineer. I may try that out on an old breeder tank that I have to see how it looks. My only concern with this is that I’ve heard that new silicon will not stick to old silicon.
