So I have to write this stupidly long research paper for Comp 2 (8-10 pages) and I need to discuss a topic that is relevant, highly researched, helpful, and it is easier with a controversial one. It has to have at least 20 sources, and it needs to have an audience (which will be my professor, and you guys once I'm done). The only problem is that I can't think of any aquatic issue that i can talk/argue/discuss about and cover both sides of the argument. Help!!

Cyanide fishing. Look it up, its the use of cyanide in squirt bottles to capture fish for the aquarium trade. Lots of research on it, I've done two research papers on it before.

Is It okay to eliminate lion fish in ocean?

How about the amount of blame put on the aquarium trade about negatively effecting reefs as apposed to the vast amount of damage caused by other industries. Curio trade, dredging, pollution, Navy crashing into reefs, etc.

Is It okay to eliminate lion fish in ocean?

Absolutely. They should be killed by the thousands in any location that isn't their natural habitat.

What about the detrimental effects of the proposed legislation to add certain corals to the threatened or endangered list. Cover it's affect on the hobby, the local people, as well as scientific research and the advancements of captive propagation. Arrive at a conclusion that support the conservation of the reefs while not detrimentally affecting the local population who use it as a source of income...

Actually, the lion fish thing got me thinking..... What about invasive species? Lots of research, easyish to talk about, and there are many to choose from. Others include zebra muscles, Asian silver carp, bullseye snakehead. What else?
