I would like to prepare water for water changes. I have a RODI system and a 65 gallon drum to store the water. I would probably look to prepare 20 gallons of water a week. Besides adding the salt and thinking to add a power head to keep water moving, how long can i get away with the water sitting in the reservoir? Since my RODI system is also tied in to my house RO system, it will take time to accumulate water. Can i start making the water say, Monday and by Thursday transfer it to my tanks?

Another question, how often do i change the media in the DI canister? I know it may depend on how my much my ATO or reservoir is using water, but would 6 months be unrealistic?

Thank you.

Here's your answer regarding storing saltwater (see video below).
As far as the DI media, many are color changing. If your's isn't, then it really depends on how much you make, just like you suggested. My only other suggestion is to use a TDS meter and check your water. When it starts to drift from zero, replace it! That's what I do, and I just replaced mine. When I do changes, I change out the sediment, carbon and DI filter all at once. The RO membrane should last 1-2 years.

I keep a 55 gallon barrel to store rodi water in. Only rodi water.
I have a separate container to mix saltwater in. I keep these 2 container for single use only.
When I need to do a water change, I'll use a pump and hose to move rodi from the one container to the other mixing container.
Once the saltwater has mixed, usually overnight, I'll do my water change. There has been more than one occasion that I've put off doing the water change for a couple days. Just left a powerhead and heater in it.

As far as when to change the resin, I do it when my tds meter ( built-in) says anything more than 0 tds.

Both great information...

Which built in TDS meter do you use?

Thanks for video and great ideas and information. Seems straight forward enough.

Which built in TDS meter do you use?
The one that came with it.
It's a HM Digital Dual TDS meter.
Most places that sell rodi units have options to add them.
Many will use a hand held one too. But it's nice to have it built in.
