I am Colleen from Naples Forida (Mntka MN transplant) My first tank was many seasons ago. I think scuba had a lot to do with it: I had a 120 reef, tangs and cardnials, the crew of cleaners and unforunatly a pistol shrimp at one point. And an emerald crab. One ate all of polyps, the other nearly all my fish. I did recover. After a break up I had no room for the big tank and settled on a 40 gal hex, stocked with clowns and other size appropriate fish and my cleaning crew. Sold that when I moved to Florida 12 years ago. Three months ago I started a 65 gal (Not reef ready) and the disasters began. While my clean up crew is in good shape, I lost a coral beauty to a heater run amuck, (I am rethinking this) after I cleaned up and settled, I down bought a new heater and coral beauty I was hit with Ich. This morning I lost new Coral Beauty, obviously ich which hit fast and my goby is missing. Ironiclly when dipping the CB out of the tank I disturbed a small shrimp like critter which I am now wondering is pistol shrimp. I dipped him out, took his portrait for the store, and yes gave him the royal flush. I bought 1 piece of live rock three monthes ago and it appears I gained the shrimp and three little slug like cleaners. I will be treating the tank with hebal ich treatment for the next three months. Then maybe a test fish, thinking of UV in the skimmer. It was a rough start, which i am not used to, but apparently I am not ready to give it up. Wish me luck.
