Hi, I am restarting a saltwater tank. It has been 20 years since I dabbled in it. So much seems to have changed. I just bought a house and I am not moving, so it's a great time to settle in with some fish and reef. I see so much information on equipment it seems overwhelming. I am planning to get a 75 gallon tank maybe 125 depending on the price of the complete setup I decide to get. Any advice on a package to design for beginning. I like tangs and was thinking about softies for coral and live sand. So excited, I am studying clinical laboratory science and the biology and chemistry of the tank is exciting to me. Thanks, love this site, great job!

welcome to R2R and welcome back to the hobby, i'm newly returned as well. personally I would watch craigslist in your area for good deals on complete set ups. there are some good deals out there. But as always do your research first!

Thank you! Welcome back to you as well. Craigslist is a good idea, definitely researching I don't want to get something that is underpowered or inappropriate for my intended setup. What do you have for a setup?

my tank is a mix mash of equipment atm until I get moved .... running a 20L with a 20 sump housing a aqua c skimmer. compu-therm heater, and a mag 7 return to get my live rock good and cycled.. I have a full setup of a 4 foot 65 gal and a 40 breeder ...both will be set up when I get moved but for now im kinda a mess of equipment. lol. there are some amazing ad inspirational setups here on R2R though. your setup will be best suited if u can decide what animals u want to keep first and design the system around there needs. softies and tangs arn't very demanding setup wise. decently bright lights...good waterflow room to roam for the tangs ....

Great advice, thank you so much. I have found the member tank page and love seeing all the setups. After you move, I hope to see some pictures of your final setup. I''ll definitely post mine when I get everything going, still in the planning phase. Won't be till late next month, I am going on vacation next week to your great state of Florida!
