Hello R2R! After 3 years of my Red Sea Reefer 250 having it's ups and downs, I decided to restart the tank after giving into the dinos battle. I learned a lot over the past few years and after struggling with dinos and everything that comes with that, restarting sounded very appealing.

As I type this, my two fish and multiple corals are sitting in a temp tank with the old tank's water, sand, and rock. I am going to begin the new tank cycle starting tomorrow. What process should I follow to transfer the livestock back to the new tank, without re-introducing any dino/algae/etc. from my old tank? The old tank is circulating with vinegar solution right now. New tank is dry ReefRock. No liverock/live sand.

Are there any dips I need other than my typical CoralRX? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Welcome to R2R!
So this is going to be a brand new tank with nothing from the old tank except fish and coral frags?

It is the same old tank, but yeah no old rock or sand. The only rock may be where acan frags encrusted to rock, I may not be able to break those apart. That's where I am thinking I have to dip those pieces in something.

facts from that thread:
-done to restart from dinos
-done again, even though was already fixed, someone was being thorough
-not like any other dino rehab thread, that’s for sure.
-hecka outcome pics.
-never had to recycle any of it. That thread speaks as much about cycling in 2020 (never mini cycling) as it does for pure invasion control.

*if polled to all of reefdom: will rinsing all your sand in tap water cause a cycle, the answer is 100% yes from every person including all reef authors and brand owners. Not maybe, hard yes. Places all in on yes it will recycle.

how would their for-sure vote square w that thread? I personally rate the results for Jon as 10/10
