I had a couple utter chaos that turned into 3 then poor all gone out of the blue. All of a sudden one just popped up over 6 months later on a completely different rock. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Sure has, albeit not an Utter Chaos. Thought I'd lost a nice colony of no names only to have them show up, in a different location, many months later. One never knows in this hobby.
