Hello,

I installed a retrofit 2x80watt t5 setup about a year ago. It is the retrokit that BRS sells. I have replaced the bulbs once already and that was in the winter.

The problem I am having is that one bulb is flickering for a moment but the two t5s will not turn on. They are connected to an apex controller and I've tried to turn them on and off. The same result happens every time.

Could the ballast have gone bad already? Why would only one bulb fire for a moment while the other doesn't light up at all? What are your thoughts?

Double check that you have a good connection at the bulb. If one bulb has a bad connection and is flickering itll cut power to the other bulb. At least that's what my fixture does. Take the bulbs out, double check all the connections, and reinstall them and see if that helps. If not it may be a bad ballast or faulty bulbs.

The connections seem good to my untrained eye. I tried a new bulb on the one that flickered. As I was checking the connection of the bulb that didnt turn on at all, the one that flickered a couple of more times, which is a new development. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a connection issue somewhere. You jiggle one thing and another one happens.
